The long-awaited Lynx Cargo facility for Shannon Airport will move an important step closer today.
Representatives of Lynx International will today sign a ‘heads of agreement’ document with the Dublin Airport Authority in Dublin
Sources say this amounts to an effective ‘progress report’ on a partnership between Lynx and authorities here, and that the agreement will be subject to a number of elements being put in place.
It’s hoped a final deal on the establishment of a major cargo facility at Shannon Airport will then be struck in around 12 months.
Full confirmation is expected from the DAA this afternoon.
In March, the DAA announced that it was seeking expressions of interest to establish a cargo base at Shannon, while two months later it was confirmed that 8 million euro was ring-fenced for the project.
Local representatives are hopeful that this could lead to the establishment of hundreds of jobs locally upon opening.
