Consultants Warn Withdrawal Of Acute Care From Ennis General Will Hurt Patient Care

MidWest consultants estimate that up to 70% of Ennis General patients can no longer be treated at the County Hospital once acute health services are removed.

The ICU is set to be transfered to Limerick Regional Hospital from March 1st under reconfiguration but doctors in Clare, Limerick and Tipperary say Dooradoyle cannot take the extra influx of patients this will create.

They are warning the HSE to ignore this "at their peril" while nurses at Ennis General have already warned that the move will turn Clare’s County Hospital into an injury clinic only.

Dr Mary Grey, Mid West IMO representative, says this will spell bad news for the majority of patients in the region.
