Councillors in Limerick have backed a variation of the Limerick Northern Distributor Road.
The 150 million euro road, which is also due to run through much of South-East Clare, has been accepted by Councillors here, but was initially rejected by local representatives in Limerick eighteen months ago.
It’s strongly opposed by a number of affected residents, but received the backing of the likes of Shannon Airport, LIT and UL.

It also got the green light from the vast majority of Limerick Councillors last evening – they voted 33-3 in favour – but Clare Fianna Fáil Councillor Cathal Crowe thinks this project is still many years away.
