Conway Expresses Disappointment at Seanad Referendum Voting

A Clare Fine Gael Senator says it’s disappointing that the Seanad referendum is not being held as a stand-alone vote.

When the people of Ireland go to the polls to determine the future of the upper house in October, they will also be asked for their views on setting up the new Court of Appeal.

Senator Martin Conway, his party’s justice spokesman in the Seanad, feels such a court is important and will help clear backlogs with Ireland’s legal system.

However, he’s disappointed that the government is holding two ballots on the one day.
