The Cliffs of Moher has welcomed it's 1 millionth visitor.
Efforts have been underway for quite some time to achieve the figure and management say they're delighted to build on the success of 2014.
At about 11 o'clock today Rita Shaw from Florida arrived at the cliffs to find out she is the 1 millionth visitor to the World renowned Clare Landmark.
She says at first, she didn't take it seriously, thinking it was a joke, but is delighted with the reception she's received.
2014 marks the fourth successive year of increased visitor numbers to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience with figures for the year so far up 12% on 2013.
This year over 600,000 euro has been invested in additional coach parking facilities, new exhibition content, restoration works in O’Brien’s Tower and a redesign of the foyer at the visitor centre.
And while celebrations are continuing this afternoon at the Cliffs of Moher, Director of the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience Katherine Webster says attention has already turned to continued growth in 2015.
