Clare’s Fine Gael TD is urging pensioners who are signed up to the Senior Alert Scheme to ensure their personal alarms are still working, as they cocoon during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It comes as the government is to roll out a befriending service for isolated older people at this time, which will be run through the exciting Senior Alert Scheme.
The initiative will allow older people to receive a regular phone call to check on their wellbeing and needs, as they continue to isolate.
