The CEO of Clare County Council says further increased funding will be needed from government over the coming years to sufficiently maintain this county’s road network.
A package of more than €25 million was committed to Clare by the Department of Transport earlier this week to improve local and regional roads here in 2021.
While it’s an increase on 2020’s allocation for this county, it’s still more than a million euro less than the funding provided for Clare back in 2019.

CEO of the local authority, Pat Dowling, says there is still a way to go to ensure road maintenance here is at an appropriate level.
