Council considers waiving charges in bid to boost development

Clare County Council is to consider a first-of-it’s-kind proposal which it’s claimed could lead to a significant jobs boost.

Last evening’s monthly meeting of local representatives heard calls for the local authority to waive planning and development charges on new commercial developments across the county.

It’s hoped this would encourage development across Clare, though Council officials have pointed out that to waive the income would cut it’s budget for capital investments.

The proposal is now to be explored further in the coming weeks – Lissycasey Fianna Fail Councillor PJ Kelly thinks it could be a major shot in the arm for the county.
