Clare County Council has expressed interest in taking over the Shannon Venue Project, after plans were shelved by the voluntary group driving the project forward.
Croí na Sionna has been planning the Community, Civic and Arts Centre for seven years, but plans were put on hold, after funding from central government fell far short of the 8 million euro price tag.
Local authority officials will meet with those behind the project in the coming days, while they hope to fast track a meeting with the Department of Housing, Planning & Local Government to uncover deficiencies in the funding application.
