The local authority says it’s hopeful flood relief works in the Springfield area of Clonlara can get underway ‘as soon as possible’.
An Bord Pleanála had granted planning permission for the construction of a flood defence embankment in the village late last year, with work having been envisaged to begin back in April.
Clare County Council and the OPW are considering the findings of a hydrogeologist’s report, following further concerns about groundwater surface flow in the region, which has been a flooding blackspot in recent years.

It is understood further progression on the status of the works are expected before the end of this week.
