Council Meetings To Resume With County Meeting To Be Held In Glór

Clare County Councillors won’t meet again until June 8th.

The local authority’s May meeting has been cancelled as a result of COVID-19, even though Councillors from West and North Clare will hold an in-person meeting this week.

The meetings will also be moved away from their traditional venue.

The last formal meeting of Clare County Council took place in April, and since then members have been working remotely, with regular contact with Council staff.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the Council’s scheduled May meeting was ‘postponed’, but now it’s been confirmed that it won’t happen.

Instead, the Council will next meet on June 8th in the larger venue of Glor, to allow for social distancing.

It’s also hoped that area meetings, and Strategic Policy Committee meetings, can resume this month, in alternative venues where possible.

The first of those meetings will take place this week, marking the first official meeting of Clare Councillors in over a month.

Elected representatives from West and North Clare will discuss the local response to COVID-19 and the ongoing problems with water supply in Miltown Malbay at the Council Chambers at its Ennis headquarters.
