Swimming has been prohibited at Kilkee this afternoon until further notice.
Clare County Council has put the order in place due to HSE advice, following what they describe as “a malfunction” of Irish Water’s sewage infrastructure there.
Emergency remedial works are understood to be taking place on the West Clare coast line.
