Clare County Council has been told by the Department of the Environment that it will now recoup costs arising out of the period of bad weather here earlier this year.
While millions of euro had already been allocated in respect of this year's first storms, the Council had spent €779,870 on clean-up and immediate works between January 27th and February 17th.

The local authority had carried the burden of these costs from within its own budget.
The Department now says it will deal with claims, however, and the Council will now submit a claim in order to recoup the money.
