Clare County Council has been accused of shirking its responsibility to improve safety on Clare’s roads by failing to maintain hedge rows.
The budget allocation for hedge cutting has been slashed by almost a third this year due to reduced funding from central government.
It has prompted the local authority to remind landowners of their duties to maintain hedges that border with roads

East Clare Councillor Joe Cooney says this simply isn’t good enough and that the local authority has a responsibility to ensure that hedge rows are regularly cutback.
