Clare Councillors are calling on the government to assist the elderly and unemployed to make the switch to digital television.
Late next year, analogue services will be switched off, meaning people will need a set-top box or new television to continue to receive television broadcasts.
The cost of this, including installation, is estimated to be as much as 150 euro and now calls have been made for those on social welfare to receive assistance.
