Councillors to quiz Environment Minister on boundary issue

 

The new Environment Minister is being asked to provide answers on the Clare-Limerick Boundary issue – once and for all – as he visits the region today.

Minister Phil Hogan will be in Ennis this afternoon to officially open the Clare Fire Service Training Centre, but he’s likely to face questions on other pressing local issues, like the controversial Brosnan report he inherited from the last government.

The Minister held meetings in Limerick recently regarding local government structures, but it’s unclear whether he intends to implement recommendations to include the South East Clare communities of Westbury and Shannon Banks in a new Limerick authority.

Mayor of Clare Christy Curtin says he’ll be reminding Minister Hogan of the stance taken by Clare County Council regarding the boundary
