The government has been accused of throwing the Clare VEC to Limerick " as a sop" for not getting their boundary extension.
Clare Councillors have warned the Education Minister he may have a battle on his hands after Ruairi Quinn announced a reduction in the number of Vocational Education Committees across the country including the amalgamation of VECs in Counties Clare, Limerick and Limerick City.
Around 600 people are employed through the Clare VEC which runs seven secondary schools locally as well as adult education and Youthreach centres and caters for around 6000 Clare students.
