The new Clare County Manager has said he’ll do his best to protect the jobs of local road workers, as the recent drop in government funding places their futures in a more vulnerable position.
Tom Coughlan was formally ratified to the top position in Clare County Council last week, just before the government announced it would have to cut back on money promised for local roads by almost 6 million euro.

Speaking to Clare FM, the new county manager says the council intends to hang on to as many staff as possible, though he said the cut of around a quarter of this years non national road funding will undoubtedly see local roads suffer
