The County Manager has strenuously denied the local authority is planning to introduce a three day working week for road maintenance staff to make up for the major cut in funding.
It comes as details of some projects facing the axe under yet another amended roads programme for 2009 are revealed to councillors.
Restoration improvement grants in parts of Ennis are set to be shelved and while other works will proceed in all the electoral areas including Kilrush, Shannon, Scariff and Killaloe, their funding has been cut by up to fifty percent in some cases.
However council officials say projects that are omitted now, will still be included in the local authority’s three year programme, but also admit THAT timeframe will now have to be extended.
