A couple in their 50s have been rescued after a 5 hour operation in the Knockmealdown Mountains, Co. Tipperary.
The pair – who are both experienced hill walkers – had become trapped in a very dense rhododendron forest yesterday.

They were helped off a treacherous area of steep ground overlooking Bay Lough by evening time.
Mountain Rescue spotters, who were able to make visual contact with the two experienced hill walkers, guided them to their location by radio.
Cahir River Rescue then stepped in to transport the two across Bay Lough to safety.
