The aircraft was around 100 miles west of Ireland when the pilot made the decision to re-route to Shannon after one of the passengers had become unruly on board.

A 37-year old man, understood to be a Cuban national living in France, was arrested by Clare Gardaí just before seven o'clock last night, shortly after the plane touched down.

He has been held overnight at Shannon Garda Station and will appear in court in Ennis this morning.

The flight, with the remaining passengers on board, then left Shannon after 8 o'clock last night.
