Court Hears Motorcycle Club Threatened Man Before Alleged Murder

A Limerick murder trial has heard the accused man was threatened by members of a rival motorcycle club the evening before the alleged murder.

Alan McNamara from Mountfune in Murroe, Co. Limerick is accused of murdering Andrew O’Donoghue outside the Road Tramps Motorcycle Club.

On June 19th 2015, Seamus Duggan said he restrained Alan McNamara’s wife outside a pub in Doon, Co. Limerick while two of his fellow Road Tramps members forcibly removed his biker jacket.

Mr. McNamara a member of rival club the Caballeros.

Under cross-examination on his behalf, Hugh Hartnett said his client was later threatened by members of the Road Tramps outside his home, which was just a mile from their clubhouse.

He said they were armed and threatened to burn down his house and kill his family. Mr. Duggan said he heard about it but didn’t approve.

It is the prosecution’s case that Mr. McNamara used a sawn-off shotgun to kill Road Tramps member Andrew O’Donoghue the following day and that his stepson Robert Cusack tried to cover up for him.

Both men deny the charges.
