One of the two head shops trading in Ennis has been forced to close it’s doors from this morning as a result of a Court injunction.
On Friday the Circuit Court in Limerick has granted a temporary injunction restraining the premises on Chapel Lane " The Laughing Buddha" being operated as a head shop.
The order was sought by Desmond Houlihan -who is the owner of the property at 9A Chapel Lane Ennis – on the basis that Conor Doyle- the tenant had mislead him as to the true nature of the the business he intended to conduct in the premises when he signed the lease.
In a statement to Clare FM Desmond Houlihan said he was pleased by the decision of Judge Terry O Sullivan as when approached by the tenant was told that a relative worked with a orphanage charity in Nepal and that souvenirs she sourced there would be sold at the Chapel Lane premises.
He went on to state that once he realised it was operating as a head shop he accepted no rent and demanded the closure of the shop – and also informed the town council to advise he was taking every step to obtain vacant possession – hence the court injunction.
