COVID Cases In Clare Fall By 20 Percent Week On Week

New cases of COVID-19 in Clare have fallen by 20 per cent in the past week.

Around 50 new cases of the virus were diagnosed in this county in the past fortnight, with nearly 40 per cent of those confirmed in the Shannon region.

Approximately 50 COVID-19 cases in Clare were confirmed in the fortnight up to this past Monday, compared to 64 in the two weeks prior.

Of those cases, 19 of them were in the Shannon electoral area – its prevalence of the virus per 100,000 people, while now the highest in the county at 62.5, is still less than half the national average.

A further nine cases were diagnosed in West Clare in the same timeframe, leaving its rate at 42.9.

Ennis’ incidence is broadly similar, at 42.1, after 13 cases were diagnosed in its electoral area in the past two weeks.

5 new cases in the Killaloe region see its figure stand at a basement 24.9 per 100,000 people.

North Clare saw less than 5 new cases in the past fortnight, with an exact breakdown not provided by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.

This county’s overall rate of 37 per 100,000 is now the third lowest in the country, after 5 new cases here were confirmed last night.
