More Covid Cases In Clare In Last Fortnight Than First 8 Months Of Pandemic

More Covid-19 cases have been reported in Clare in the past two weeks, than in the first eight months of the pandemic.

An additional 208 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, with 1,613 cases recorded in this county in the past fortnight.

The rise in line with the national trend, with 6,888 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the Republic along with 8 more deaths.

It brings to 61,484, the number of cases reported across the country in the past 14 days.

Meanwhile, the number of people being treated at the region’s main hospital jumped by more than a quarter over the weekend.

Last night, there were 122 patients admitted with the virus at University Hospital Limerick, a rise of 26 on Friday’s figures.

They’re among 1,499 patients receiving treatment after contracting the virus at hospitals across the country.

Figures from the HSE also show there were 126 people receiving treatment in Intensive Care Units, with 4 of those in Dooradoyle.
