COVID Rates Fall In Shannon & Ennis This Week But Climb In Other Areas Of Clare

The Ennis and Shannon areas have seen sharp falls in their rates of COVID-19 in the past fortnight.

However, other areas of the county have seen a small increase.

Health Protection Surveillance Centre data shows North Clare still has the highest prevalence of COVID-19 out of this county’s five electoral areas.

66 new cases were diagnosed in the Ennistymon region up to this past Monday, meaning its rate of the disease is 402.2 per 100,000 people.

All other areas of the county have significantly lower prevalences of the virus, though the Killaloe area is next highest here.

58 people were diagnosed with COVID in that region in the same 14 day period and its rate stands at 288.4.

While cases have dropped by a third in the Shannon electoral area in the past fortnight, 83 new cases were confirmed there in that two weeks leaving its figure at 273.1.

West Clare has seen a slight increase in cases with 50 diagnosed in the 14 days up to Monday.

The Kilrush electoral area’s rate is now 238.2 per 100,000 people.

Ennis now has the lowest rate of COVID-19 in the county despite 69 people being diagnosed with the virus there in the past 14 days, with its number at 223.2.
