The Taoiseach believes that home grown enterprise and local initiatives across Clare is the way to drive the local economy forward.
Brian Cowen was speaking to Clare Fm after the launch of a number of new schemes in the county including a Shannon Region Loyalty Card and a new website aimed at increasing tourist numbers to the region.
Mr Cowen feels the creativity, resilience and determination of local communities will be a key factor in turning the country’s economic fortunes around

The Taoiseach says its not possible to guarantee that future international IDA backed investment will be located in the Clare or Mid West in the near future.
Both the IDA and government has been sharply criticised in recent months after it was revealed that only a handful of new multinational start up’s have established a base in the county over the past five years.
Brian Cowen believes that expansion of an existing company is just as important as attracting new business but it’s also the IDA’s policy to encourage new companies to look outside Dublin or Cork
