Gardaí have issued a warning after receiving reports of two people in Clare falling victim to a fresh text scam.
In both cases, the person involved received a text purporting to be from Bank of Ireland which contained a link asking for updated details to be entered.
The individuals clicked on the link and both had large sums of money taken from their accounts and paid into an international account.

Bank of Ireland has issued alerts to customers warning them to be aware of fraudulent text messages, and Sergeant Tríona O’Rourke from Ennis Garda Station has this advice for anyone who receives a suspicious email or text:
