Of the 64 convictions in Clare for drink driving in 2020, 57 of them where recorded in Ennis District Court.

It’s a similar pattern over the last decade, with 72 percent of all 1,187 drink driving convictions in Clare having been recorded in Ennis since 2010.

Kilrush District Court saw 10 percent of convictions lodged there, with the remaining number – 208 in total over a decade – being registered in Killaloe, Ennistymon and Shannon respectively.

Back in 2010, 240 convictions were filed in Clare alone, with that number slowly falling over the past number of years.

2018 bucked the trend slightly, with convictions increasing by 15 percent, but they fell by more than 35 percent again in 2019.

2020’s figure of 64 convictions here was a further ten percent reduction on 2019’s number, with the trend of drink driving convictions in Clare continuing to fall.
