The chair of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland is hitting out at the Taoiseach for repeatedly failing to honour the commitment to remove a broadcasting levy for local stations.
It comes as the government has approved an extra €50 million in funding for RTÉ over the next five years.
IBI has cautiously welcomed plans for a Commission on the Future Funding of Irish Public Service Broadcasting, but insists RTÉ is not the only broadcaster producing public service content.

Speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, John Purcell said it was unfair to issue such large funding to RTÉ, while not removing the fee payable by other stations.
