Environment Minister Phil Hogan is vowing to undertake a radical reform of the local authority system which could result in the scrapping of smaller councils right across the country in an effort to cut tens of millions of euro from the local government bill.
Today members of Ennis Town Council will met with The Director and President of the Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland to discuss the plans.

However Fine Gael Councillor Johnny Flynn says councils like Ennis play an invaluable role in the community.
