An Oireachtas Committee has been told that it was only "by the luck of God" that a major crisis was averted in the county during last November’s floods.
The Committee met this week to discuss the floods and the recent freezing weather, and they were briefed in the situation in Clare by a representative of the local authority.

The council’s director of services, Ger Dollard, told members of the committee that the crises could have been much worse, but for the hard work of staff.
