David Drumm’s Bail Package Officially Approved

David Drumm’s €150,000 bail package has now been officially approved and he'll be released from custody as soon as his papers are processed.

The DPP has directed that the former CEO of Anglo Irish Bank be tried before a judge and jury on allegations of financial wrongdoing.

Wearing a long dark coat, David Drumm looked like a man who was ready to leave when prison officers escorted him into the court room.

Following his extradition from Boston yesterday, Gardai objected to bail amid concerns he’d leave the country again but Judge Michael Walsh felt their arguments didn’t hold up and he set bail at €150k.

Mr. Drumm is required to lodge a third of that and his parents-in-law, Danny and Georgina Farrell, have agreed to put up the rest.

Both assured the court they were aware they’d lose their money if he absconds.

Mr. Drumm has agreed to live at an address in Skerries, Co. Dublin, sign on twice daily and provide Gardai with a personal mobile phone number.

He’s facing 33 charges arising from his final years as head of Anglo Irish Bank. They include forgery, false accounting and conspiracy to defraud.

His next court appearance will be before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in April.
