The death has taken place of Clare native and former TD and Senator, Doctor Brian Hillery.
A relative of former President Partick Hillery and a native of Miltown Malbay, Dr. Hillery was a Professor of Industrial Relations at UCS from 1974 to 1988.
From 1977 to 1997 he served as a Fianna Fáil representative in the Oireachtas, first as a Senator and later as a TD for Dun Laoghaire.

Later, he served as Chairman of the Boards of Independent News and Media, and Providence Resources.
He is survived by his wife Miriam, children and his wider circle of family and friends.
