Decision On Rollout Of Broadband Not Expected Until Easter

A government decision on whether to press ahead with the rollout of broadband to rural areas is now not expected until Easter.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has also warned that the projected costs of the National Broadband Plan have increased significantly.

A third of all premises in Clare, over 23,000 homes and businesses, are dependent on the Plan to secure high-speed internet access.

The deadline to review the final tender for the contract has been delayed for several months, and Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin had told the Taoiseach there needs to be progress made as soon as possible:
