Residents in Kilkee will have to wait another week before finding out the fate of their diving equipment.
A risk assessment carried out on the boards and ladders at several locations in the the West Clare seaside town was expected to be presented to the council this week but will now have to go before an independent water safety commission.
This only meets several times in the year so it will be next week before the safety audit is ready to be presented to the local authority.
The ladders were re-installed following the assessment last week but a decision on whether they or the diving boards will be returned permanently will be made by the County Council once it receives the safety audit.
Local architect Tom Byrne who designed the mounts for the diving boards hoped they could have been returned by the weekend but accepts safety comes first
