New car tax rules and procedures on declaring your vehicle off the road are cuasing long delays at Clare’s Motor Tax offices.
From October 1st motorists will have to sign a legal declaration to say their cars or other vehicles will be off the road in future, rather than the current system whereby retrospective declarations certified by Gardai can be made.

The deadline for this type of motor tax exemption is next Monday, and the last minute rush is causing long queues at local offices in Ennis and Ennistymon.
Fiona Mooney of the Clare Motor Tax Office says anyone wishing to declare their vehicles off the road in the past year will need to do so in the coming week, or get someone else to do it for them.
