Hundreds of former Dell workers from Limerick and Clare are set to benefit from 14.5 million Euro in European funding which will finally be released today.
The EU Globalisation funds have been granted to help almost two thousand workers who lost their jobs after the closure of Dell’s plant in Raheen last January.
Applications can be made through the county enterprise board for grants to assist with retraining, job placements and new business start-ups and the funds are open to former workers at Dell and other companies that relied on Dell for business.
North and West MEP Marian Harkin, who represents Ireland in the EU Globalisation Fund Working Group is also pleased that the group has agreed to visit the Mid-West in the near future to make sure the grants scheme is effective
