The Junior Minister at the Department of Agriculture has rejected concerns that a review of vet labs is being carried out with a view to closing them down.
It’s after farmers from Clare and elsewhere in the MidWest carried out a demonstration outside the regional laboratory in Meelick, amid fears that an ongoing review could see it closed down, with services centralised to Kildare.
Similar protests have taken place at other such labs, while the matter has also been raised in the Dáil.
