Depth Rule Relaxed In Burial Bye-Laws

A new series of draft burial ground bye-laws has seen a controversial rule regarding the depth of graves relaxed.

It was initially proposed that the bye-laws would seek to enforce a minimum eight-foot depth for graves, but this was described as unworkable by critics.

The Council, however, says it was merely reinforcing a law that was over 120 years old, and now a Council Committee have come to an arrangement which will be put to all local representatives in the near future.

It will see graves dug to an acceptable level at burial grounds throughout the county.
