A former priest and school principal from Ennis has lost his appeal against his conviction for sexually abusing a pupil.
79-year-old Con Desmond, with an address of Woodlands, Kilrush Road, Ennis had pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of indecently assaulting a boy at St Stephen's De La Salle National School in Waterford on dates between 1978 and 1980.

He was found guilty in February 2013, and sentenced to two years imprisonment.
He appealed this conviction, on grounds of delay and conflicting evidence, but this has now been rejected by the Court of Appeal.
