The number of Ennis residents who commute long distances to work is higher than the national average.
New figures also show that Commerce is the biggest employer in Clare’s County Town and almost half of all householder work in the west of the county in towns like Kilrush.
The statistics go on to reveal that the numbers who have achieved a college degree or higher in slightly below other county capitals and that Ennis is a far more important source of employment for those living in the West of the county rather than the south or east.
The report from the Western Development Commission is based on CSO figures released to the organisation and WDC Policy Analysis Deirdre Frost says it highlights some important issues
