Disappointment’s been expressed over the decision by the Chairman of IT Tralee Flan Garvey to step down from the role.
On Monday the former Mayor of Clare informed the Institute of Technology that he would be retiring as of July 31st, despite just weeks earlier publicly stating he would stay on in the job until 2016.

He had temporarily stepped aside as chairman while an investigation was ongoing into an allegation of plagiarism against him over his thesis on the history of his home parish of Inagh/ Kilnamona.
Mr Garvey was subsequently cleared of any wrong doing and Mayor of Ennis and fellow IT Tralee Board member Peter Considine feels his departure will be a loss.
