Discussion Continues Over Treatment Of Garda Whistleblower

The Tánaiste and Justice minister says she has no doubt the Garda Commissioner will put further clarity on the controversy over the OHiggins Commission report.

Frances Fitzgerald says Noirin O'Sullivan will give information about her instructions to her lawyers at the inquiry – if it is legal and feasible to do so.

The continuing controversy over the alleged treatment of Garda whistleblower Sergeant Maurice McCabe has dominated another morning of Dáil business.

The Fianna Fáil leader noted that there had been further extensive leaks in the past 24 hours, which he said were damaging.

And Micheál Martin insisted this controversy wouldn't go away until it was addressed:

The Tánaiste and justice minister started her reply by reading into the record the findings of teh Commission about GS Maurice McCabe.

And she appeared to agree with MM that NOS would have to address this controversy:

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams says the Tánaiste was dodging the questions about exactly what happened

Frances Fitzgerald again insists she expects we'll hear more from NOS

And the Tánaiste insisted that it is now over to the new policing authority to look at this issue further
