Reports that Donald Trump was set to purchase Doonbeg Lodge and Golf Club surfaced this morning, weeks after the five-star West Clare facility was placed in receivership.

Now, receivers Ernst and Young have confirmed to Clare FM that contracts for it to be taken over by The Trump Organization were signed on Saturday.  There are no details on the price paid, but this was reported to be fifteen million euro.

In a statement to Clare Fm, Donald Trump said he is 'thrilled' with the purchase, his first in Ireland.  He describes Doonbeg as 'a terriffic property' and vows to make it even better.  It's also confirmed that the facility will be renamed as Trump International Golf Links, Ireland.

Doonbeg Golf Club is a major employer in West Clare, with over 230 staff on it's books during the peak of last summer's tourist season.

Following the purchase, Trump's son, Donald Junior, is understood to be travelling to Doonbeg, and is scheduled to arrive there tomorrow.
