Donohoe Pressed On Aer Lingus Sale Concerns

The Transport Minister insists the government will take "great care" when considering any offer to sell Aer Lingus.

Two bids for the airline have been rejected in recent weeks, with the most recent offer putting a value of over 320 million euro on the state's 25.1% stake in the former flag carrier.

However, local representatives and management at Shannon Airport fear that any sale would see this region pay a high price, if the airline's new owners move their Heathrow slots away from Clare's international airport.

Minister Paschal Donohue was pressed on the matter by a number of Clare TDs last night, and insisted that the impact of any change on Ireland and on Airports would be taken into account.
