Clare’s Fianna Fail TD says he feels there is a direct link between cutbacks in Garda funding and a rise in deaths on our roads.
190 people were killed on Irish roads in 2013, up 28 from the previous year in the first rise recorded in road fatalities since 2005.

The Road Safety Authority has expressed serious concern, and its chairman Gay Byrne has blamed this on a cutback in Garda funding.
Clare TD Timmy Dooley, his party’s spokesperson on Transport says he agrees and feels further investment is needed for the Gardaí.
