Clare’s Fianna Fail TD is confident a complaint by one of his party’s Senators about the separation of Shannon Airport from the DAA won’t hold back its development.
Sligo Senator Marc MacSharry fears the decision to establish Shannon on a debt-free, independent basis could decimate Knock, and has raised concerns with the European Commission that the plan is in breach of European law.
Clare Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley insists that the position of Senator MacSharry does not reflect the views of the party and is confident he’s confident plans for the international airport are fully legal,
However other representatives fear any investigation could stall progress at Shannon.
Fine Gael Senator Tony Mulcahy says that would be disastrous for the airport, and for the Mid West.
