Clare’s Fianna Fail TD has called on the Transport Minister to speak out against Ryanair’s latest proposal as part of it’s hoped-for takeover of Aer Lingus.
If Ryanair’s take-over bid is sucessful, it has been confirmed that Michael O’Leary will use British airline FlyBe to take over most of Aer Lingus’ short haul routes to comply with EU competition law.
Deputy Dooley says he’s concerned this would damage competitiveness on the Irish market, and ultimately business and tourism here too.
The European Commission is to decide whether to permit Ryanair’s move next month, and in advance of that the Clare TD is urging the government to inform Brussels of it’s opposition
