Dooley Scolds Government’s Post-Storm Response

The government has been warned that Clare tourism will suffer, because of delays in funding for storm repairs.

Fianna Fáil TD Timmy Dooley says Ministers who saw storm damage here forgot the problems when they left, and says the response to this year's bad weather has been short-sighted.

Clare County Council estimates that the total damage here will cost €37 million to repair, but has only received €16.8 million to date, an allocation which doesn't cover damage in areas including Kilkee and Doonbeg which were badly hit by the storm of February 1st.

This has led to particular concern in Kilkee, where the Council insists most of the works will be complete by the end of June, but Deputy Dooley feels the delays aren't good enough.
